Shut Up & Dance: The Hogwarts Edition

🎤 🔮 JUST A CASUAL SATURDAY 🔮 🎤

Unfortunately, our favourite book and film series of all time doesn't have a choreographed dance number, so we thought we'd improve it! 😎  Shut Up & Dance: Hogwarts Edition 😳

11.30am

Abby is deciding whether scarves or ties will better represent Ron, Harry and Hermione. ⚡️ She decides on scarves and leaves having spent $135 at the Costume Cave (as the capes are $25 each). 🎓

12.30pm

Clair has just finished teaching a private Hen Do in Island Bay and wants 30 minutes to recharge. Lesa and Abby turn up at her house with 🧀  cheese, crackers and gin. 🍾  Clair is OK with this.

3.30pm

Abby, Lesa & Clair figure out the characters' arcs e.g. "What about if Ron gets with Harry?!" someone exclaims. Or should Hermione become Prime Minister of New Zealand and we do a political spin? We base this on the fantastic mix Lesa put together earlier on in the week.

4.00pm

We realise that Hermione going down on Ron will be a bit much during Harry's Hopelessly Devoted to You track. We decide that pretending to pash by holding a book in front of our faces works a bit better. 📚

4.30pm

We give our bodies a break by sitting down, and yelling the lyrics and lines out loud to each other to make sure we know what the heck we're supposed to be saying and when. This is not hard as we are all (obviously) obsessed with pop music and know all the words from the film a little too well. 🔮

5.00pm

Lesa suggests she uses her scarf between her legs. A visual gag. We all like the idea and endorse it. We are happy having spent $135 at Costume Cave.

5.30pm

We do a run through with the music wearing our costumes. Clair's dog, Devon, watches us, very confused. Wigs are flying.

6.00pm

We have a tech rehearsal at the Fringe bar so we know and meet the other contestants backstage. We hang out and chat with Bette Midler, Cher and George Michael.

7.00pm

We inhale a burger each from Burger Fuel. 🍔  Over dinner, Lesa runs through the lyrics in a Scottish accent.

8.30pm

We watch from backstage, one of the most weird and wonderful shows we've ever had the pleasure of seeing at the Fringe Bar. Abby realises she will not have time to put on her bedazzled Michael Jackson glove.

9.15pm

Clair is given some glitter which she applies to her red lipstick. 💄 Abby looks on, jealous and annoyed that she's playing Ron. 🕸

9.45pm

Lesa breaks her Harry Potter glasses. 🤓

9.50pm

Lesa finds some tape. Fixes glasses with moments to spare. 👀

9.54pm

We perform the weirdest and most wonderful show 💫 of our lives to date 🌙

11.30pm that evening

We email a recording of the performance to J.K. Rowling and ask if she'd like to collaborate with us as we think we've got some great ideas for her next book series 😏
